10 Tips for Turning Negative Thoughts into Positive Body Image
- Appreciate all that your body can do. Everyday your body carries you closer to your dreams.
- Keep a top 10 list of things you like about yourself (that are not related to what you look like). And read often!!
- TRUE beauty is not skin deep... beauty is a state of mind, not a state of your body. When you feel good about yourself and who you are, you carry yourself with confidence, self-acceptance and openness that makes you beautiful!
- Look at yourself as a whole person. When you see yourself in a mirror or in your mind... choose not to focus in specific body parts but see yourself as a whole person.
- Surround yourself with positive people. When those around you are supportive and encouraging, it is easier to stay motivated!!!
- As soon as a negative thought comes in your head... stop and overcome it with a positive one. Build yourself up by thinking psoitively.
- Wear clothes that are comfortable and that make you feel good about your image. Work with your body not against it.
- Become a critic of social images and media messages...you can't focus on what is NOT reality or things that make you feel bad about yourself.
- Pamper yourself!! Take a bubble bath, make time for a nap, or find a peaceful place to relax outside. Let your body know you appreciate it!!
- Use some time and energy to do something to help others. Reaching out to other people can help you feel better about yourself and make a positive change in our world!
